The Awesome American Fork Cavemen battered the Canyon View Falcons, AKA the Little Blue Birdies, 16-3 in a non-league baseball game at American Fork March 24.
The completed the Awesome Cavemen's sweep of a doubleheader that they hosted that Saturday. Earlier that day, the Awesome Cavemen had tamed the Brighton Bengals, AKA the Bad Old Putty Tats 9-0. In the Brighton game, American Fork's Riley Otteson threw a one-hitter. The only Bad Old Putty Tat to make a hit off Otteson was Whiskers Felhower, who had hit a fifth-inning single. B.J. Eldredge and Otteson each whacked a double for the Awesome Cavemen in the game. Morgan "Mo" Flinders clubbed a single for the Awesome Cavemen.
In the top of the first, Little Bue Birdy Lex Nielson slugged a one-out single off Kai Clayton. However, No. 4 Keaton :"The Tinglar" Kringlar grounded out to shortstop Jake Miles.
Pitcher Kinglar kept the Awesome Cavemen from putting anybody on base in the first's lower half.
Although the second inning opened with Jesse Johnson doubling into left for the Little Blue Birdies, Bagley kept them from scoring any runs.
In the bottom of the seconed, the Awesome Cavemen went on a long scoring run. Zach Willis set the stage for American Fork's stampede by singling into left. Danny Beddes doubled him in, opening the long rally. After singling Beddes in on one runs, Jeremy Reynolds came home on an Eldredge single.
On one out in the third, Cam King doubled in two Little Blue Birdies to cut the lead to 5-2. That double led quickly to pitcher Kai Clayton getting yanked from the mound. Soon afterwards, the Awesome Cavemen grounded the Little Blue Birdies with a double play.
In the bottom of the third, Beddes doubled in a run that opened an eight-run rally for the Awesome Cavemen. During that scoring spree, Eldredge and Riley "Otto" Otteson each hit a one-run double. Beddes smacked a second straight double that reeled in two runs.
The fourth inning opened with Ryan Sahagan singling into left, but he soon got picked off at first. On two outs, Little Birdie Ryan Rollo singled in Rollo. That RBI turned out to be the last Canyon View run of the afternoon.
In the bottom of the fourth, American Fork picked up its final three runs on singles hit by Miles, Willis, and Beddes.
Taking over the mound in the fifth, Reynolds gave up a left-field double to Keaton Kringler, but the pitcher caused the next two batters to fly out. The game ended with Reynolds striking out Sahagan.

In a non-league boys' soccer game under the lights at Lehi Pioneer Stadium March 23, the Lehi Pioneers, AKA the Froggies, leaped past the Westlake Thunder, AKA the Shockers, 5-0.
Because the game was being played for collecting funds for cancer research, the Froggies wore pink jerseys while the Shockers wore pink armbands.
The Froggies didn't take up much time to get onto the scoreboard. Aaron Caprio scored the first goal on a shot from inside the penalty box. Westlake goalie Kim Davis kept Lehi's lead at 1-0 until a few minutes before halftime. Issac Gray scored the second goal from 30 yards outs. Teammate Chad Allgiaer scored the third goal seconds before the first period's end.
In the second half, the Shockers attempted to unleash fierce comebacks. However, the Froggie defense constantly leaped into action to deny the Shockers any good spots for shot selections, despite strong efforts by Chris Smith,Garrett Bills, and Steve Lifferth.
Four minutes into the second half, Landon Jacobson scored the fifth goal. With the quickness of a panther, Bosco Muhire made the final Lehi goal on a breakaway play.
Caprio tried scoring another goal during the second half, but he got injured inside the penalty box. Caprio had to spend the rest of the game watching it from the sidelines. Lehi had Ty Nielson attempt a penalty kick on Caprio's behalf, but the kicker's shot bounced off the goal bar.
Lehi Coach Jerry Prisendorf said, "We worked hard to spread our guys out, so they could work the ball into good positions for spots. We also played really smart defense. We kept their middles at bay."
