In March 17 junior varsity game at American Fork, the Awesome American Fork Cavemen drained the Lehi Pioneers, AKA the Froggies, 9-3.
Awesome Caveman pitcher Sean Hardman's pitching kept the Froggies scoreless during the first five innings. Hardman posted six strikeouts during his time on the mound.
Like Hardman, Froggie pitcher Britt Stokes allowed no runners on base during the game's first two innings.
Meanwhile, neither team could make a hit until the top of the third when Froggie Mason Downs blasted a double into center. Downs got stuck at second while he watched Hardman strike out Aaron Bullock and Kaleb Holden, a "distant cousin" of the late actor William "Bill" Holden.
The bottom of the third opened with Skyler "Sky Pilot" Mounteer tripling into center. Hardman singled him in. Singling into right, Milo "Bud" Abbott soon joined Hardman on base. Riley "Otto" Otteson singled them on one out.
In the top of the fourth, Hardman struck out Ryan Absher and Nolan Padilla, but walked Taylor Nielson. The Awesome Cavemen nailed Nielson in a fielder's choice play at second.
On one out in the fourth's lower half, Mounteer singled in Alec "Sergeant" Schultz to improve the Awesome Cavemen's lead at 4-0.
In the top of the fifth, left fielder Milo Abbott intercepted two straight Lehi flies. Although Hardman walked downs, he struck out Aaron "Bull" Bullock to retire the Froggies to the field. In the bottom of the fifth, they kept American Fork from profitting from a one-out single hit by Otteson.
On two outs in the sixth's top half, Taylor Nielson singled in Ryan Absher. Lehi's attempt for a long rally suddenly got squished by second baseman Zach Haws grounding out Braxton Deveraux, nephew of former American Fork pitcher Dale "Grand Slam" Devereaux.
Getting on base through a walk at the start of the sixth's bottom half, Zach Willis soon scored on an overthrow past first, stirring up a five-run rally for the Awesome Cavemen. During the rally, American Fork saw Hardman and Ernie Green each single in a run while Mounteer hit one-run double.
In the top of the seventh, Aaron Bullock doubled in Colt Sampson, and then came home on a two-out, Stokes single. American Fork shut down Lehi after that hit.
American Fork jayee coach Jay Holstead said, "We controlled Lehi by just getting the right plays. We can't underestimate Lehi anymore. They've improved a lot in these few years."

The Awesome American Fork Cavemen came from behind to defeat the Lehi Pioneers, AKA the Froggies, 12-7 in a sophomore baseball game at American Fork March 17.
Froggie Paxton Terry hit a two-run double in the top of the first. American Fork's Koy Dibb answered that hit with a one-run double he smacked in the bottom of the first. Lehi pitcher Grant Dixon kept American Fork from making any further runs until the bottom of the fifth. American Fork sophomore coach Brock Knight, the former head coach for the West Jordan Jaguars, AKA the Pussy Cats, said, "I think the Lehi pitcher was exceptional. He kept us off balance when we pulled off a five-run rally."
Getting on a base via a second-inning walk, Froggie Kade Josephson scored on an error, opening a four-run rally, which saw Ryan Absher triple in two runs, then score on a passed ball
A Taylor Nielson, one-run single had improved the Froggies' lead at 7-2 in the fifth inning.
